Gonna be gone for about five days, starting tonight. I'll TRY to get online at my parent's house, but they have dial-up so... yeah. I'm taking a bus back on Friday, but I have a three-hour layover in Seattle and I'm scared.
wow, In Britain/ think you're more likely to have dial-up in poor pants of the city than in rural areas. Mainly because our countryside seems to have a reasonable amount of dosh.
In the US I think that even poorer areas of cities are reasonably covered with at least DSL access, and now cable companies are offering high-speed Internet over their lines I don't think some sort of high-speed would be out of reach. In my Parents' rural area, they are way too far away from any cable system so their only option for high-speed Internet would be a satellite system (which is pretty expensive and only fast going to them, the outgoing is over the phone lines still).
Also, I think that your Government has policies to require and subsidize the expansion of high-speed Internet all over your country, lots of countries do. The U.S. Government has never gotten it's act together enough to do something like that.
Have a nice Christmas Bats...
I thought that was almost impossible.
